Calligraphy Meaning
Nishikigoi in Japanese translates to "Brocaded Carp" and is used to describe the colorful carp commonly called Koi. In Chinese (pinyin: "Jin Li"), the characters translate the same and they are an auspicious symbol that relates to having abundance. A legend states that a carp can become a dragon by navigating through the "Dragon Gate", a large waterfall in the Yellow River near Henan. It symbolizes that a common person can become great by his extraordinary accomplishments.
