Who is the publisher?

Qi Journal and Qi Catalog are produced by Insight Publishing in Temecula, California, USA. The premiere issue of the journal appeared in Spring 1991 and has been published quarterly since. The journal has continued to expand in size, content, and distribution since it's introduction and now has national bookstore distribution and subscribers from all over the world. It is recognized as a leading English language publication on the topic of Qi.

Qi Catalog was created in 1997 to assist readers who were contacting us trying to locate books and videos that our authors referenced within the journal articles. Residents of the US can obtain free copies of our current catalog by calling our toll-free number (1-800-787-2600) or by filling out our online request form. The printed catalog is reproduced in our online store.

Qi-Journal.com website was launched in 1998 to accommodate the worldwide audience searching for information on the topic of "qi". It has become truly international and helps promote traditional Chinese culture and medicine throughout the world. See sample visitor stats. Our sister site, chinesehealth.com was launched in 1999 to assist those searching for other websites related to Chinese health and culture.

The owners of Insight Publishing are practitioners and followers of the disciplines covered by the journal. Their goals are to educate the Western public about the benefits of these ancient Chinese methods of health and fitness. The journal, catalog, and websites are some of the methods used to distribute this valuable and life-saving information.

What is the target audience?

Qi Journal has "real" articles on the topic of Qi, written by those who are currently teaching and practicing the disciplines and who are willing to share their experiences for the advancement of others. All articles are peer-written, making this journal a wonderful adjunct to classical texts and study guides...sometimes contradictory, sometimes controversal, but always educational. Guidelines for Article Submissions

There is a tremendous crossover of knowlege between many of the Chinese healthcare disciplines. Taijiquan practitioners should know acupuncture points and meridian theory, and qigong practioners should know how feng shui affects the movement of qi and the environment they practice in each day. Of course, it is quite embarrasing when practitioners can't correctly pronounce the discipline they practice, so we include tidbits on language and other cultural facts that clarify learning.

Where can I find a copy of the journal?

The journal can be found in the periodical section of major bookstores such as Borders, SuperCrown and Barnes&Nobles as well as selected health food stores and speciality bookstores. Subscriptions are available in our Online store or by calling our toll-free order line at 1-800-787-2600
